Brief History
BANCO SAN JUAN
GROWING TO SERVE THE FILIPINO’S NEEDS
In September of 1953, a resourceful group of bankers put up
the Rural Bank of San Juan, Inc. Its aim was to provide
banking service to best suit the needs of Filipinos living
in the community of San Juan.
Although they began with just one establishment, the Rural
Bank of San Juan, Inc. has stood its ground over the
decades. It has successfully weathered a number of financial
crises that have threatened the banking industry and
seriously affected the national economy during the seventies
and eighties.
A group of enterprising businessmen saw the bank’s strength
and potential and acquired it in 1988. While the corporate
name Rural Bank of San Juan, Inc. was retained, the bank was
now known as BANCO SAN JUAN. With an eye for expansion and
the servicing of even more clients, the new owners
overhauled the whole organization to help the bank serve the
Filipinos better.
The aggressiveness of the new group of investors has turned
this one-unit bank into a 30-branch strong institution with
more branches to open in the future! In addition, Banco San
Juan has tie-ups with other leading banking and financial
institutions so it can offer a wider range of services to
its valued clients.
With an innovative new team, a fresh infusion of capital and
the implementation of innovative financial management
policies, Banco San Juan experienced unprecedented growth.
By the end of 1990, Banco San Juan was ranked third among
the 814 rural banks throughout the country in terms of
resources. By the first quarter of 1991, it had advanced to
rank second place. From January of 1993 to the present,
Banco San Juan earned the distinction of being the rural
bank with the largest branch network in Luzon.
Since then, the Bank has been in the forefront of providing
responsive financial services to rural communities and
proactive economic assistance to businessmen and in the
placement of progressive investments in countryside
development. With 30 branches in Luzon, BSJ have grown and
expanded its banking operations to reach more clients. In
2002, Banco San Juan again pioneered rural banks and made
history by becoming the first and only Rural Bank to join
BancNet. This paved the way for the bank to offer innovative
and non-traditional deposit products that offer convenience
and value to its clients. Despite all the dynamic and
positive changes in the last five decades, one thing has
remained constant and unwavering – the Bank’s ardent desire
and commitment “to serve the Filipino and help him fulfill
his dreams.”
Through all these years, Banco San Juan has never lost sight
of its goal to delight its clients and find ways to help the
Filipino succeed.
Today, we continue to live everyday our mission to provide
ordinary Filipinos with options and opportunities to have
better lives. |
